As a Mexican-American, I did not know a lot about the Chicano Movement and it is a shame that it does not get the same support and recognition as the Civil Rights Movement. It really showed the harsh realities that Mexicans and other Latino groups faced and the struggles they went through. However, not everything is flowers and rainbows and they continue to face discrimination in modern times. However, the Chicano studies programs at universities have offered an insight on what younger generations can do and ways to move forward.Excellent author that provides great analysis of Chicano Movements. This is the 3rd book I read from the author. This book covers the emergence of the Chicano Studies Program that came out of the Chicano Movement. I utilized this book in my semester long paper writing on the fall of the Mexican American Studies Program in Arizona. This is a must read for anyone who is interested in Mexican American Studies or even for those history students who would like a different view of the Civil Rights Movement as it pertained to other ethnicities that were not African American.
